Welcome to East Sac Edible! I have been transforming my typical lawn filled yard in East Sacramento, California, into one I can eat! I’m gardening in Sacramento which is USDA Hardiness Zone 9b or Zone 14 according to Sunset Magazine’s Climate Zone. Here you will find my ramblings about what is going on in my garden and home. I am keeping my garden organic and trying to incorporate as many principles of permaculture into my garden. I have always had a passion for vegetable gardening and that is my primary focus, although I have been trying to educate myself more on beneficial flowers and plants that help my edible ecosystem. I am constantly amazed at how much of my own food I can produce on my 5,700 square foot lot. I am interested in composting, vermicomposting, seed starting, seed saving, small space gardening, drying and storing vegetables, canning, pickling, and of course, eating my veggies!
