Over the weekend I was able to visit good friends in Berkeley and they took me on a tour of Alice Waters’ Edible Schoolyard garden at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School (click here to see their website). I was surprised by how big the garden was (a full acre!) and walked through (jealously) thinking that I wished I had that much space to garden! I will let the pictures do the talking for me and I hope to visit again in the spring or summer.

Beautiful pictures! My first reaction, too, was to be totally jealous. I want an acre to garden, and an earth oven, and a chicken tractor! I am in Berkeley a lot these days as I finish grad school. I’ll have to check out this garden; I didn’t even know it existed.

You must visit Sarah! It is really a beautiful space and the pictures can’t quite capture all the work that goes into maintaining a space like that. Also another favorite place you should check out is a nursery on Solano called Flowerland (technically in Albany not Berkeley)… I love getting a coffee from the airstream cafe and sitting amongst all the plants (that I don’t have space for)!

P.S. Ooh! And I also want a glass greenhouse. Like, really really want one!

Right? I’ll take one of everything in that garden! Totally jealous!

Thanks for sharing! I haven’t had the opportunity to check this garden out yet, but have wanted to. Having a cob oven is on my to-do list 🙂
