In an effort to maximize my growing space, I have started growing things where they probably shouldn’t go. Enter “The Lonely Watermelon.”

This is a Moon and Stars Watermelon that I have planted from Seed Savers. I have planted it next to the side gate into my backyard. I have a DG pathway and about 2 inches of soil before you hit my neighbor’s grass. Probably not the most ideal place for a plant. Also notice the sunlight and the impending shade of the house. This little guy might not get enough sunlight through the day to succeed. My hope is to train the watermelon along the fence. We will see how it goes!
